The company began its very first prototype game on Easter Island (Rapa Nui). The aim was combine tourism and mobile tablet gaming by creating realistic first person perspective games that revolutionized trip planning. We released our MVP as a web-playable game that ran inside of a web browser.
Gametrip started in Edmonton, and is now located in Red Deer. Meeting our organization's social responsibility to our community, we created what has become our most successful game product to date. Our app, which can be found on the Apple, Android, and Moverio online stores, tells a locally relevant story about historical Edmonton landmarks and events. Continually gaining traction, this game was trending enough upon its release last summer to be featured in Metro News. It has also been used as a part of a social studies/history unit in an Edmonton grade 4 class. It has now surpassed 650 downloads worldwide.
Gametrip's intended markets are, the general public, educational institutions, tourism bureaus, and museums.
